Not sure about you, but in my house, wrapping presents is a big deal, sometimes an even bigger deal than opening the presents themselves.
Whether done during the holiday season or just for a birthday, we go all out – from creating a ?cake? out of hat boxes filled with gifts or wrapping a bachelorette gift so the ribbon resembles a corset tie, it?s been done?
It also didn?t hurt that my sister worked at a Papyrus where they advertised that they could wrap anything… but I digress.
In honor of the upcoming holiday season, we?ve pulled together some awesome gift wrapping innovations, from products to designs, so you can be a gift wrapping wiz to WIN your holiday.
But before we get started, let?s take a moment to look back at how this craze began…
During the 1917 holiday season, J.C. and Rollie Hall ran out of white, red and green tissue paper that were the standard gift dressing at the time at their stationery store. Scrambling for an alternative, Rollie found a stack of fancy French paper meant for lining envelopes. He put the paper in a showcase, charging 10 cents per sheet. It sold out instantly. They did the same the following year, and by 1919, the brothers decided to print their own special paper for concealing presents, and the gift wrap business was born.
Today, wrapping paper is a $3.2 BILLION industry, and as much as HALF of the 85 million tons of paper products Americans consume annually goes toward packaging, wrapping and decorating. You can still find it by the roll at the Hall?s little store, Hallmark.?
For better or for worse, there’s just something about a big red bow.
Okay, back to the matter at hand, what products can help make you a wrapping pro? Here you go?
