Say hello to Cory!
Cory Hymel left his hometown of Memphis, Tennessee, to join us at 520 Elliot here in Charlotte, and hasn’t looked back. Ever the adventurer, Cory’s not your typical software development guy. In this Meet the Team post, let’s get to know Cory a little bit better.
What do you do at 520 Elliot??
I’m the Director of Connected Technologies. If you have a product that needs to connect to a smartphone or to the internet, I make it happen.
What?s your favorite part about coming to work each day?
My 5.2 minute commute and the constant problem solving. Since we are building brand new products from scratch it?s a constant hack and grind to get stuff to work. Pretty sure I would go crazy if I did the same repetitive job every day.
Favorite thing to do outside of work?
Backpack. Run. Climb. Travel. Underwater basket weaving.

Cory in Patagonia, Chile
Best memory (so far) about work?
Going to Vegas for SEMA… about all I can say here.

Only the strong survive Vegas and SEMA. Not Heyward.
What?s your proudest work accomplishment?
I designed and made a Charlotte skyline piece of art for a client, which turned out really nice. Mostly proud because it was a form of art that I had never done before and was given free rein over it.
What?s your hidden talent?
I have a really amazing chin.
If a movie were to be made of your life, what actor would play you?
I would say it?d have to be a hybrid of Action Bronson, Neil deGrasse Tyson, and Matthew McConaughey.
You?re only allowed to eat one food for the rest of your life. What is it?
Cheez-its.
If you could be anywhere else right now, where would that be?
In the Himalayas climbing with my buddy, Ryan.
Have you ever thought, ?wouldn?t it be cool if???
??
??
We exist to get product ideas out of your head and onto retail shelves,?all at no risk to you.
I love you Cory! Trekking the Himalayas is on the top of my bucket list… And Cheeze-its, oh yeah! Someday maybe you’ll reveal your hidden talent, haha! You’re a funny guy and I love your adventurous side!
Thanks for sharing!
I appreciate it! Whenever I make it to the Himalayas next I’ll send some pics 🙂
Thanks for reading and glad you enjoyed it!
