Coca-Cola Freestyle® partners with Everyday Edisons

Friday, November 4th, 2011

Many innovations have made their way through the Everyday Edisons studio doors. But, one might argue that there’s never been one causing quite a buzz, as the latest addition to our staff break room, the Coca-Cola Freestyle® machine from our Everyday Edisons Season 4 Technology Partners, Coca-Cola!

If you thought this was a place where innovation flowed and tough decisions took place before, just imagine the environment with 100+ brands to choose from and endless drink recipes to create! ;)

And while this machine is every soda or flavored water-lover’s dream, perhaps, most intriguing is the story behind its invention. Here are just a few cool facts:

  • It is the first fountain soda machine daring to go beyond the average limit of 6-8 consumer choices
  • The machine took 204 world-class experts from across the country and 4 years to develop
  • It was designed by Italian design firm, Pininfarina – Yep, it’s practically a Ferrari!
  • It won a Gold Award (the highest honor) at the 2011 Edison Awards in the “New Retail Frontiers” category

Be sure to tune in to Everyday Edisons Season 4, where you may just get a glimpse of this machine in action, and special thanks to Coca-Cola for their belief in innovation and partnership!

Dr. Faramarz Farahi, You’re a Season 4 Everyday Edison!

Thursday, October 27th, 2011

We’re getting closer and closer to a full lineup of Season 4 Everyday Edisons and we’re pleased to announce our newest addition!

Please join us in congratulating Dr. Faramarz Farahi!

Growing up, Faramarz Farahi always had an interest in Physics. Born in Iran, he earned a Ph.D. in Physics from The University of Kent at Canterbury in the United Kingdom. With over 20 years of experience in the field of Physics, he currently serves as Professor and Department Chair for Physics and Optical Science at The University of North Carolina at Charlotte. It is his interest and expertise in the field of optical fiber sensors and devices that naturally led Faramarz into the world of invention where he is, to date, the holder of nine US/International patents.

Through his research and experimentation, Faramarz used his knowledge of optics to develop a new innovation in fabric material. While the University lab served as a great resource to develop his invention, Faramarz knew he still needed help getting his idea to market, so when he learned of a casting call for Everyday Edisons, he jumped at the opportunity and captured the attention of the show’s casting team!

Now as a Season 4 Everyday Edison, viewers will see if Faramarz’s innovation has what it takes for commercial success!

Watch below as Faramarz receives the exciting news!

Meet Loopa, a bowl that will turn your world upside down.

Friday, December 18th, 2009

Loopa with Lid in front (2)Dry cereal, crackers and cookies. They can be kids’ best friend or a parent’s worst nightmare! Spilled and crushed into the carpet, couch or car, these tasty snacks keep parents on constant clean-up patrol. Now, snack spills are a thing of the past with the Löopa™ Gyro Bowl: the spill-resistant bowl that keeps tots’ food off the floor, out of the couch cushions and off the seats of your car. This innovative children’s bowl rotates, swivels and dips in every direction, making it difficult for dry food contents to fall out. Its reactive gravity-defying technology utilizes a weighted inner bowl which rotates 360 degrees to catch the bowl’s contents as they slosh from side to side, keeping food inside and the floor snack-free. Bright colors, swiveling bowls and an intergalactic design make it more than just a bowl – it’s also a cool new toy keeping kids entertained. So, while imagination takes your kids to outer space and beyond, Löopa makes life easier for you back on earth.

Brad and Melinda Shepard, the Loopa bowl inventors, came up with the idea after their little one spilled Cheerios all over the back seat of the minivan for the umpteenth time. Lightning struck and Melinda described her “spill-proof bowl” concept to her husband Brad, an engineer, and bowl was born! Once it got in the hands of Edison Nation, we developed and launced the Loopa bowl, and since then we’ve been very lucky to have the support of great press behind it. Loopa was most recently featured on mydesignpick, an online blog and resource for individuals interested in great affordable design, http://www.mydesignpick.com/affordable-design-for-children/the-loopa-gyro-bowl-spill-resistant-bowl. A Loopa Bowl review was also featured on the Pregnancy & Newborn “Good Gear” blog, http://www.pnmag.com/blog/Good_Gear/Other_Cool_Stuff:_Loopa.
