Clearing the air for the Intellectual Ventures search

Thursday, February 18th, 2010

IVAs most of you are aware, Intellectual Ventures is currently challenging our community to submit ideas for novel air purification systems. You may have read the search description and carried on without giving it a second thought, assuming it was just an opportunity for the rocket scientists and chemists of the bunch. We wanted to take a moment to clear the air (pun intended) about this search. We are looking for your ideas – no working prototypes required. Specifically, Intellectual Ventures wants to see your “enabled idea.” This means they want to see the ideas that can realistically be developed and that there are proven methods to do so.

To remind you, innovations may include, but are not limited to, the following areas:

1. Ways you protect yourself against potential airborne illnesses and diseases when you are in the public, whether you are on the subway or in a restaurant.

2. New concepts for air purification.

3. Novel integrated air purification systems.

4. Sensors for real-time air quality monitoring.

Green innovations are needed on an international level in all regions of the world. Ideas to ensure air quality and curb air pollution are in critical need. In recent years we have seen the outbreak of H1N1 and SARS, as well as the proliferation of everyday pollution that hovers in our major cities, and more. Intellectual Ventures is looking for your ideas of how we can minimize the impact of breathing in harmful pollutants and chemicals into our bodies.

Take a breath of fresh air, brainstorm a bit and see what ingenious thoughts you conjure up! We hope this helps to clarify what Intellectual Ventures is looking for, as we grow our roster of technology-related Live Product Searches.
